Residency Program
APPLYING to the program
Applicants register with ERAS through their medical schools, complete the ERAS application, and choose to send an application to Children's Hospital Oakland. Applications are considered complete when they include two letters of recommendation or a Dean's Letter in addition to all parts of the standard ERAS application.
Completed applications are screened, and applicants are informed by email if they are being invited to interview.
If we select you for an interview, we will contact you
You may schedule your interview with the program secretary,
Katherine Castillo, for any day between November 1 and mid-January.
The application deadline is December 15
No more applications will be downloaded from ERAS after that date. In February, applicants enter their rank list, and our Intern Selection Committee meets to rank applicants. In March, applicants and programs are informed of the Match by the NRMP.
Transfer applicants
If you're interested in transferring to our program, we do periodically have open second or third year positions. These openings are generally for the beginning of academic years, but occasionally occur at other times. Applicants must be in good standing at their previous program. Please contact us if you are interested.
