DIRECT ADMISSION
To direct admit, call (510) 428-3601.
Eligibility
Members of Children’s Hospital's Medical Staff may admit patients to Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland directly from their offices between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. by calling Direct Admission at (510) 428-3601.
Note: More specific referral information may be available from each pediatric service or department.
Direct Admission Process
Bed Control will need the following information to start the admission process:
- Patient’s name/age/sex
- Admitting diagnosis
- Isolation requirement
- Allergies
- Where the patient is coming from
- Anticipated time of arrival
- Whether you wish to be the attending or would like the hospitalist to attend
- Referring physician’s phone number
- Contact name and phone number for additional insurance information (mother, etc.)
After this basic information is received by admission, the call will be transferred to the hospitalist on call (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), for information about evaluation and treatment.
