Are you interested in practicing medicine, becoming a physician or pursuing a career in nursing?
FACES Summer Medical Academy and Summer Nursing Academy are short, intensive educational programs that provide youth (15 years and older) with unique opportunities to explore the world of medical/nursing training and practice.
FACES programs are designed to inspire young people to become caring, insightful physicians, nurses, or medical professionals and to understand the particular complexities of practicing medicine in a diverse and often challenging world. Founded by Tomás A. Magaña, MD, MA, FAAP, a physician in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital Oakland, FACES has successfully prepared Bay Area youth for careers in the health professions for the past nine years Program Details:

FACES Summer Nursing Academy
Nurses perform a wide range of clinical and non-clinical functions necessary to the delivery of health care, and may also be involved in medical and nursing research. Nurses, in collaboration with other members of a health care team, are responsible for the treatment, safety, and recovery of ill individuals, health promotion and treatment of life-threatening emergencies in a wide range of health care settings. FACES Summer Academy programs are open to any race/ethnicity, school or geographic area. College students may apply, but the majority of participants are high school students. Application Review Process Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, and qualified students will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. We accept approximately 30 students per each summer program. Late applications are not accepted.
